Preschool

Preschool students at IScGKC spend the day in a program that includes both English and Arabic/Islamic Studies. Students also work in small groups to focus on important developmental skills. In English class, students participate in a circle time, read stories, and sing songs based on themes. They are taught their English alphabet, numbers, and shapes. In Arabic students are introduced to Arabic letters and numbers, along with shapes. Students also memorize short chapters of the Qur’an as well as some simple supplications.

Our Preschool is structured to balance educational activities with play, fostering both cognitive and social development in young children. Our framework includes:

  • Arrival and Free Play: Children arrive and engage in self-directed play, allowing them to get in a comfort zone and socialize.

  • Circle Time: A group activity where children gather to discuss the day's plan, sing songs, and listen to stories, enhancing language skills and group cohesion.

  • Learning Centers: Children participate in various activity stations, such as art, blocks, or dramatic play, encouraging exploration and creativity.

  • Snack Time: A short break for a healthy snack, providing energy and an opportunity for informal socializing.

  • Outdoor Play: Physical activity outdoors, promoting motor skills and overall health.

  • Lunch: A meal time where children eat lunch together, fostering social skills and independence.

  • Quiet Time or Nap: A period for rest or quiet activities, essential for recharging and emotional well-being.

  • Afternoon Activities: Engaging activities such as music, movement, or additional learning centers, reinforcing concepts and skills.

  • Closing Circle and Departure: A final group gathering to reflect on the day, sing songs, and prepare for departure.

This structure provides a balanced approach to learning and play, supporting the developmental needs of preschool-aged children.
