Islamic Studies, Arabic, and Quran classes for our middle school students are designed to provide a well-rounded understanding of Islamic teachings, linguistic skills, and the spiritual practices associated with the Quran. Arabic and Quran classes consist of three levels: Advanced, Intermediate, and Beginning. These classes are tailored to the developmental stage of middle schoolers, fostering engagement, comprehension, and practical application.

1. Islamic Studies
This subject provides a comprehensive overview of Islamic beliefs, practices, history, and ethics. The curriculum includes:

  • Aqidah (Beliefs): Understanding core Islamic tenets, such as Tawheed (oneness of Allah), the Prophets, angels, divine books, and the Day of Judgment.

  • Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence): Basic rulings on purification, prayer, fasting, zakat, and other acts of worship.

  • Seerah (Life of the Prophet): Exploring the biography of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and the lessons derived from his life.

  • Islamic History: Learning about key events, figures, and contributions of Islamic civilization.

  • Morals and Manners: Teaching values such as honesty, compassion, respect, and responsibility.

Instruction is often interactive, incorporating group discussions, role-playing, and project-based learning to encourage critical thinking and real-world application.

2. Arabic Language
Arabic classes focus on developing proficiency in the language, particularly since it is integral to understanding the Quran. Key components include:

  • Reading and Writing: Learning Arabic script, vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure.

  • Listening and Speaking: Conversational Arabic to enhance oral fluency and comprehension.

  • Grammar (Nahw) and Morphology (Sarf): Understanding word forms and sentence construction.

  • Cultural Context: Introducing students to the rich cultural and historical context of the Arabic language.

Activities may include reading short stories, engaging in language games, and practicing dialogues to make learning enjoyable and relevant.

3. Quran Studies

Quran classes emphasize both recitation and comprehension, enabling students to connect deeply with the text. The curriculum often includes:

  • Tajweed (Rules of Recitation): Learning correct pronunciation and recitation techniques to read the Quran fluently.

  • Memorization (Hifz): Memorizing selected surahs, often starting with shorter chapters (e.g., Juz Amma).

  • Tafsir (Exegesis): Studying the meanings and context of Quranic verses to understand their relevance and application.

  • Quranic Arabic: Focusing on vocabulary and expressions found in the Quran to enhance comprehension.

These classes may incorporate audio-visual tools, peer recitation practice, and reflection sessions to enrich the learning experience.

Structure and Delivery:

  • Classes are typically held multiple times a week.

  • A balance between theoretical knowledge and practical application is maintained.

  • Teachers often use engaging methods like quizzes, storytelling, and multimedia resources.

These subjects aim to nurture spiritually grounded, knowledgeable, and morally responsible individuals.
